Formed in 1997 when 17 small-scale producers banded together to create Sagrada Familia S.A. (Vinos Lautaro). Before this, producers were dedicated mainly to the cultivation of annual crops like corn and wheat, rather than viticulture. Workers did not have access to electricity, drinking water, or even have enough beds for all family members. Today, Lautaro Wines is a Fairtrade Enterprise formed of 23 associate shareholders and small scale suppliers. Ripe grapes picked early morning, cold fermented in stainless steel tanks with controlled temperature, no oak influence.
